Retro Bubblegum Card Designs

We designed some fun business cards, based on the old 1970s Star Wars bubblegum cards. Back in the pre-internet data desert, we had to find pop culture inspiration where we could. I chewed so much of that cardboard-tasting bubblegum just to get a full set of them! My cousin Wayne and I competed to get all of these little rectangles of cardboard. Don’t even get me started on the action figures! That may be a post for a different day…

Back in the olden-days, the before-days, every bit of information we could find, we would consume! However, it was such a treasure hunt to find that information. After Star Wars came out, it was almost 4 years before the next film—there would be an occasional magazine article, even a newspaper article—every item was this precious bit of treasure.

One of the questions we ponder, here at the lagoon while sipping our favorite libations, is how the change in data access has impacted how we (as humans) relate to pop culture. Do we need that sense of a treasure hunt in order to generate the excitement—the longing—for more pictures or information on our favorite characters and stories?
