Our obsession with Pop Culture ephemera often leads to some interesting combinations. Mr. Lagoon was practically weaned on old Marvel Conan comics, and Mrs. Lagoon thought that the WandaVision show on Disney+ was the absolute Bees Knees!

When Marvel reacquired the rights to Conan, they delivered a really fun storyline—reviving the old battles between Conan and Kulan Gath—bringing Conan squarely into the mainstream superhero universe. We expected it to read much like any other money-grabbing groan-fest, but it was actually a lot of fun; leading us back into comic shops on a regular basis. We couldn’t. help but wonder what the mainstream heroes might look like if they stayed in the Hyborian Age, vs Conan adventuring through the contemporary MCU.

One of the results is the above Hyperborean Scarlet Witch homage to characters we love. Brew Lagoon obviously don’t claim any rights to the characters described herein.

This piece went from a rollerball doodle in Mr. Lagoon’s trusty Leuchtturm 1917 sketchbook to inking and coloring in Procreate.
