Ready for the Rum Ting?

We came across this wonderful little potion in a recipe book full of Caribbean-based drinks. You can’t find Ting everywhere, so you may need to hunt through the grocery stores in your area—particularly the international foods section. Lucky for us at the Lagoon, we have easy access to a Wegmans, so the fridge has often been well-stocked with Ting!

Ting is a grapefruit-based soda that has an interesting flavor profile (much like actual grapefruit). It’s sweet, sour, and a little bitter, all at the same time. Some Lagoon visitors have successfully blended vodka and gin with Ting, but we think that rum has just the right flavors to bring out the beast in Ting!

We recommend wither Mt Gay or Appleton, but as long as you avoid the more typical rail rums, and stick to one of the better brands, you won’t be disappointed!
